‘Violent’ crash in Burlington leaves 1 dead

Police in Halton are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision, the male rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The two-vehicle crash involved a southbound motorcycle crashing head-on into a northbound Honda CRV on Waterdown Road.

Halton Regional Police are investigating a fatal crash in Burlington.

The accident happened around 3.15pm on Saturday (August 6) in the area of Waterdown Road and Craven Avenue and involved a motorcycle and another vehicle.

Police said a motorcycle traveling southbound on Waterdown Road struck a northbound Honda SUV.

Emergency officials said Burlington firefighters were first on the scene and performed CPR, but the male motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force’s collision reconstruction unit is at the scene to investigate.

Jim Tristani, who lives in the area, said he heard police and other emergency responders on their way to the scene.

“From what people are saying, it sounds like a violent crash,” he said.

Police say Waterdown Road will be closed between North Service Road and Flatt Road while police investigate.
