Temperatures in Toronto are set to hit the low 40s combined with humidity Saturday as much of southern Ontario remains under heat warnings issued by Environment Canada.

Overnight, temperatures will drop into the mid-twenties, they say.

Sunday is expected to be cloudy and 32 C. With humidity it is expected to feel like 41 C.

Heat warnings are currently in place across much of southern Ontario, from Ottawa to Barrie to Windsor. Cooler temperatures are expected for Monday.

INCREASED RISK OF HEAT ILLNESS

Environment Canada is warning residents that the risks posed by heat are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people who work or exercise outdoors.

“Heat warnings are issued when conditions of very high temperatures or humidity are expected to pose an increased risk of heat illness, such as heatstroke or heat exhaustion,” the agency says.

They advise drinking plenty of water, checking in on family and friends, never leaving people or pets in vehicles and taking regular breaks if you work or exercise outdoors.
