‘I will never give up hope’

Police say the investigation into Chelsea Cardno’s disappearance will continue until she is found.

“We will continue to follow up on any tips or investigation options and work with COSAR to determine future search options,” said Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet from BC RCMP on Wednesday.

Cardno, 31, disappeared after leaving his home on June 14 around 6 p.m. 8 to walk his dog JJ along Mission Creek. Her vehicle was found parked on Pasadena Road, but in addition, no trace of her has been found. It is believed that she may have fallen into the high-flowing river.

Her mother, Diane, took to Facebook Wednesday to express gratitude for the community’s efforts to find her daughter.

She highlighted the efforts of volunteers with Central Okanagan Search and Rescue for their “unwavering” dedication to finding Cardno “even when the weather and level of the creek have not been favorable.”

“To the RCMP, which has tirelessly followed up on the overwhelming amount of leads coming and eliminating all other possible scenarios,” Diane continued.

She also thanked the members of the public who showed up Saturday for a search party along Mission Creek.

“It really requires your community to come together to make things happen, and for that I will be eternally grateful.”

“I will never give up hope, she is my secondborn, my little girl, my sweet pea.”
