June 24 (Reuters) – An Ilyushin Il-76 military cargo plane crashed and burst into flames as it landed near Russia’s western city of Ryazan on Friday, killing four of the nine people on board, the RIA news agency reported, citing local authorities.
Five people were hospitalized with injuries, the RIA said.
The Interfax news agency quoted Russia’s Defense Ministry separately as saying that the plane had suffered an engine failure during a training flight. The ministry gave no details about the crew’s deaths.
