A detention center in Western Australia has broken into chaos 10 days after a man was stabbed to death.
Masked riot police stormed the Yongah Hill Detention Center when inmates became violent and the entire area was shut down.
Footage shows one detainee swinging a weapon and another being led away by the security guard before the riot crew enters and takes two prisoners into custody.
Turkish national Gokhan Can was killed at the Northam facility earlier this month after allegedly being stabbed to death while sleeping in his cell by Iranian national Mohammad Al Lami.
Ian Rintoul of the Refugee Action Coalition criticized the authorities.
“I think we have seen an unnecessary, very harsh police response that has only exacerbated the tensions and anxiety of people inside Yongah Hill,” he said.
This time, no one is thought to have been injured.
The Australian Border Force is investigating the case.
