The police have changed their report car accident that led to Indiana Rep. Death of Jackie Walorski (R), who now say the car occupied by Walorski crashed into another car after crossing the center line of the highway.

Why it’s important: The Elkhart County Sheriff’s office initially said Walorski and two of her co-workers, Emma Thomson and Zachery Potts, were killed when a car traveling in the opposite direction veered into oncoming traffic in northern Indiana.

  • Potts was driving the vehicle at the time.
  • The driver of the other car, Edith Schmucker, was also killed and an investigation is underway.
  • It’s unclear at this time why cars driven by Potts swerved across the center line, the sheriff’s office said.

The big picture: Walorski’s death is another great loss to the Hill community, which has suffered the deaths of two other members this year.

  • Walorski was the top Republican on the House Ethics Committee and had served in Congress since 2013.
