Appeal for information following a serious traffic accident in East Lothian

East Lothian Police said:

Road police officers are appealing for information following a serious traffic accident in Haddington Road, Wallyford, on Thursday 23 June 2022.

Around 1.30pm, a truck that was driving on Haddington Road, Wallyford, left the roadway, collided with a wall and then drove down a dam that came to rest on the East Coast Main railway line.

Emergency services attended and the 41-year-old male truck driver was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The road and railroad were closed for about eight hours to allow investigations, and the vehicle could be salvaged.

Extensive investigations are underway and officers are urging anyone with information to contact police.

Sergeant Ross Drummond, of the Lothian and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit, said: “Our investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing.

“If you were in the area at the time, think back and contact us if you have information that could help our investigation.

“We’re also eager to talk to motorists who may have dashcam footage of the incident.

“I would ask anyone with information to contact Police Scotland via 101 with reference number 1714 on Thursday, June 23, 2022.”
