Firefighters from all over Derbyshire have been deployed to a nearby forest fire Matlock Golf Club. Residents of the area have been urged to keep windows and doors closed.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service told Derbyshire Live that the fire was first reported at. 13.40 this afternoon (June 22) near the 11th tee at Matlock Golf Course on Sandy Lane. Crews from Matlock, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Glossop and Buxton are currently fighting the fire.
Early reports from the fire department suggest that the fire covers an area of 150 meters by 50 meters – roughly the size of a football field. A specialist Unimog argokat (off-road vehicle) and watercraft are used on site.

The Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: “Please be aware that we have a large fire in the open near the Sandy Lane area of Matlock. This involves 150x50m scrub and forest. Be aware that there is smoke in the area. “
