Two people have been accused of conspiring to bring a child to the UK to harvest organs, Metropolitan Police said.
Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, and Ike Ekweremadu, 60, have been remanded in custody and will appear in Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today.
Charges were brought against the couple, who are from Nigeria, after an investigation conducted by Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime team.
A child has now been secured.
The investigation was launched after detectives were warned of potential offenses under modern slavery law in May 2022, the force said.
