Lorry accident on the M1 causes traffic chaos

Sydney commuters are being told to avoid the M1 Pacific Motorway after two trucks collided, sparking traffic chaos ahead of rush hour.

The vehicles collided near Cowan just past the bridge over the Hawkesbury River this morning.

NSW Police confirmed there are no fatalities. A full update will be delivered soon.

Live Traffic NSW said motorists can “expect significant delays” as two out of three southbound lanes are closed.

Commuters are advised to use caution and “allow extra travel time”.

“Southbound traffic is backed up about 10 kilometers,” the Transport Management Center said.

“Light vehicles should consider using the Pacific Highway instead.

“Emergency services and transport crews remain at the scene.”
