A solicitor who was unfairly sacked after she complained about being paid less than male colleagues has been awarded more than £150,000 in damages.

Helena Biggs was warned she risked scoring an “own goal” when she demanded to know why her pay was lower than the male manager she shared an office with.

Colleagues at A Bilborough and Company, a shipping insurance specialist in London, criticized the lawyer for being “pushy”, “overambitious” and “a ball-breaker”. Biggs, 47, told an employment tribunal she suffered a “campaign of victimhood” that ended in dismissal as a result of her complaint. She said her bosses used her as an “enforcer” to tackle underperforming staff, leading to her being described by colleagues as the “wicked witch
