‘The lie has not disappeared’: Committee chairman January 6 says Trump’s threat to the election continues

Earlier White House Personnel Manager Mark Meadows top assistant Cassidy Hutchinson has testified before the committee investigating the January 6 attacks on the Capitol.

Her remarks before the congressional inquiry are perhaps the most judgmental even before the panel, drawing a picture of an erratic and violent Donald Trump in the events surrounding the riots at the Capitol.

She told the committee that the president said: “I piss I do not care that they have weapons”When he was warned, his supporters were heavily armed for moments before urging them to march towards the Capitol.

When the president finished speaking to a crowd of supporters on January 6, he was reportedly “annoyed” that his security staff did not want him to pay an unplanned visit to the Capitol, so much so that he tried to grab the steering wheel of the president’s limousine and allegedly attacked a Secret Service agent.

Finally, according to Mrs. Hutchinson’s testimony when rioters broke into the Capitol, the president casually said Vice President Mike Pence “deserves“To get extremists to sing that he should be hanged for refusing to overthrow the 2020 election.

The former president attacked the testimonyand claimed that he barely knew the “sick” Mrs. Hutchinson.

‘No’: Melania Trump declined in text exchange to call for peaceful protests on January 6, fmr. official requirements

As rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, Chief of Staff Stephanie Grisham urged her boss, First Lady Melania Trump, in a series of texts to condemn the violence.

“Will you tweet that peaceful protests are every American’s right, but there is no room for lawlessness and violence,” Ms Grisham wrote according to a screenshot she shared on Twitter on Tuesday.

She was reportedly greeted with a simple response from Mrs. Trump: “No.”

The First Lady’s helper resigned a day later.

Capitol police officer says new evidence from Jan. 6 shows that Donald Trump only cares about ‘himself’

Daniel Hodges, a U.S. Capitol police officer who was nearly crushed by pro-Trump rebels, told The independent after today’s hearings on January 6, he is not shocked by what he heard about the former president.

“Most of what I hear in these hearings is not really shocking to me because Donald Trump has long since revealed his character long before he became president,” Mr Hodges said.

“I knew the only person Trump cared about was himself. He does not care about the safety of officers or the safety of Congress as long as he gets what he wants, “Mr Hodges added.

Here’s more about the shocking testimony.

And here’s more from our report last year on Mr Hodges’ own shocking experience on 6 January.

Trump ‘clearly had violence within him’, says Jamie Raskin

After the hearing on Tuesday, panelist Jamie Raskin said that Donald Trump “clearly had violence within sight” on January 6.

“It is extraordinary to hear in such vivid detail that the Chief of Staff of the White House was aware that there were armed men in that crowd on the sixth of January, and the President’s response to that, according to witness, was burning when he just said: ‘let them all in, take the blades down, take the machines down, let them all in.’ There were people with AR-15s, Mr Raskin said.

“There were people with guns and knives – ‘let them all in’ because they are no threat to him,” the Maryland Democrat added. “So it did not worry him that there were armed people ready for violence in the crowd in the mob that day. And it confirms that this was a president who was willing to do anything to overthrow the presidential election … and clearly had violence within him. “

January 6 Committee has ‘very serious concerns’, Trump allies try to tamper with testimony

The January 6 committee is concerned that Donald Trump’s allies may be trying to tamper with the testimony of witnesses taking part in the congressional inquiry.

“Most Americans know that trying to influence witnesses to testify untruths raises very serious concerns,” Committee Vice President Liz Cheney said Tuesday.

The committee shared anonymous testimony from Jan. 6 witnesses with detailed information about mob-like threats from unnamed Trump allies.

“They reminded me a few times that Trump reads transcripts and just to keep that in mind while I continued through my clarifications and interviews with the committee,” the witness told lawmakers.

‘As an American I was disgusted’

Ms Hutchinson said she remembers “feeling frustrated” and “disappointed” during the riot.

“It felt personal. It was really sad. As an American, I was disgusted. It was unpatriotic. It was un-American. We saw the Capitol building being disgraced by a lie. And it was something that was really hard at the moment to digest, when I knew what I had heard down the hall and the conversations that were going on, ”she said.

Trump says he ‘hardly’ knows his chief of staff’s assistant chief after she testified he knew rebels were armed

Donald Trump claims he “hardly” knows an aide to his former chief of staff after her condemnatory testimony to a parliamentary committee examining his baseless, stolen election story and whether he knew a crowd of supporters would commit violence at the US capital.

The former president wrote on his Truth Social account that he “hardly” knows Cassidy Hutchinson, an assistant to the chief of staff Mark Meadows who also served as a special assistant to Mr. Trump, “in addition to hearing very negative things about her (a total fake and ‘delicious’)”.

Mrs Hutchinson testified on June 28 that then-President Trump was aware that his supporters were armed with weapons and knives before marching on the Capitol and ordering staff to remove security devices.

“I don’t give a damn that they have guns. They’re not here to hurt me,” he said. “Take the damn magazines away. Let my people come in. They can march to the Capitol from here. Let the people in.

“Take away the damn mags,” Mr. Trump said, according to Ms. Hutchingson, referring to the metal detectors around the Ellipse.
