Firefighters tackle the flames from South Bristol as large smoke flags rise into the sky

Crews have handled a fire in South Bristol tonight. Six firefighters were called to Griggfield Walk in Hengrove.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service said shortly before 5 p.m. that they had been called to the scene. The fire hit sheds and fences on Griggfield Walk.

No one was injured and firefighters said the fire was extinguished in an update shortly after noon. It said: “The fire is now extinguished. Firefighters used 4 jets, 3 hose reels, a turntable ladder and small tool to put out the fire. 6 firefighters wore respirators for safety. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, fire investigations are taking place tomorrow.”

Crews from the Hicks Gate fire station remain on site for re-inspection to ensure the area remains safe, the fire department added.
