Police confirm fatal accident

The Kelowna RCMP has confirmed a death in a crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 97 north of the airport.
A motorcycle collided with a pickup around noon. 15:55 at the Old Vernon Road junction.
The northbound lanes on Hwy 97 are now closed at Airport Way, where northbound traffic will be diverted to Airport Way. The RCMP is asking motorists to avoid the area.
Drivers can expect significant northbound delays on Highway 97.

A single lane still runs in each direction at the site of what is believed to be a fatal accident on Highway 97 north of the airport.
Emergency crews are now in the process of setting up privacy barricades at the crash site at the intersection of Old Vernon Road.
The Kelowna RCMP says they will be releasing a release soon.

Several calls to the Castanet editorial office say they observed a shot-down blue sports-style motorcycle and what appeared to be a corpse covered in a tarp.
While the traffic is still passing in one lane, several emergency vehicles have just arrived and a closure is possible.
Northbound traffic backs up significantly.
