COVID-19 update: June 23, 2022

WA Health reports a total of 5,351 new cases by 6 p.m. There are currently 28,603 active cases in Western Australia.

Until 18 last night there were 260 people with COVID-19 in the hospital, 12 in the intensive care unit.

Unfortunately, today’s report includes eight new deaths dating back to May 24, which were reported to WA Health yesterday.

This includes two men in the 90s; two men in the 80s and four women in the 80s.

For reasons of confidentiality, the department will not release further information on these cases.

Of the 5,351 cases, 1,866 were confirmed via PCR tests, the remaining 3,485 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 10,417 PCR tests were performed at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has registered 871,777 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
