Bachelorette star Brooke Blurton has shared her experiences with abortion.
In an Instagram post Sunday, Blurton revealed that she had an abortion “very recently” and urged women to “go together” in the midst of the US Supreme Court’s anti-abortion ruling.
Blurton’s post was in response to one from Abbie Chatfield, who also revealed that she had had an abortion.
Blurton shared Chatfield’s Instagram post on her stories, praising her for being “honest and vulnerable” for sharing her own experiences.
Chatfield shared a photo with her fans of her in six weeks of pregnancy on Saturday before she had an abortion at the age of 23.
There are no guarantees that the right to abortion in Australia will be protected forever, “Chatfield warned.
In response to the couple’s long-running feud, Blurton wrote: “As an icon and creator of change, I have always admired Abbie for the topics she talks about. Her honesty, especially about abortion, was one that I thought she showed so much strength in, and thought, wow what a king man.
“… disagreements aside … I always looked past it and admired Abbie’s vulnerability.
“Women can get along. We have to. Only after going through my own experience of an abortion [a] very short time ago.
“I’m so lucky (if that’s the word I need to have) to have choices. Why do men have choices over our bodies, why do they come right over them?”
The U.S. Supreme Court has ended nearly 50 years of constitutional protection for women and overturned the 1973 landmark Roe v Wade ruling recognizing the right to abortion.
