Boy, 17, dies in motorbike crash on B3027 Verwood Road

A teenager has died in a motorbike crash in Verwood in the early hours of this morning.

A 17-year-old boy from the Blandford area died in the incident, which happened at around 10am. 12:50 Saturday 6 August.

The incident took place on the B3072 Verwood Road, close to Potterne Park, involving a silver Honda motorcycle which was reported to have been in convoy with a black Yamaha motorcycle.

The boy’s family has been notified.

Road closures were put in place overnight as police investigated the incident. These were lifted around

Officers investigating the collision are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Inspector Craig Tatton, from Traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family of the boy who sadly died in this collision and we are doing everything we can to support them.

“We owe it to them to carry out a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and I would appeal to any witnesses to either the collision itself or the manner in which the two motorbikes were traveling in the moments leading up to it to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area and has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to check their footage for anything that could assist our enquiries.”
