Body of man and woman found at address in Sherborne

DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after a man and woman were found dead at an address near Sherborne.

Dorset Police received a report at 6.03 on Tuesday 28 June about a woman’s sudden death in Gifle View, Thornford.

Officers participated along with the ambulance service, and the bodies of a man and a woman – both in their 70s – were located in the property.

An investigation is underway – led by detectives from the major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) – to determine the full circumstances of both deaths.

The man’s family has been notified. Investigations are still underway to find the woman’s relatives. The man and the woman were known to each other. Likewise, the forensic pathologist has been notified.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour of MCIT said: “This is a very sad incident and we are doing everything we can to support the man’s family.

“The officers are conducting investigations to determine exactly what happened and a barrier is in place so that an investigation of the site can take place.

“At present, it is not believed that anyone else was involved in the incident, and investigations will continue to find out the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.

“I appeal to anyone who may have information to assist our investigation to contact Dorset Police.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area and we will encourage everyone to contact officers from the local police team if they have any concerns or information.”
