It said it would continue to promote plans to transform the Torrens Island area into a low-carbon industrial energy hub.

AGL has invested at the site in preparation for the retirement of the aging gas plant, commissioning the new Barker Inlet 210MW gas plant in 2019 and developing a 250MW battery which is due to come online in mid-2023. It is also investigating the possibility of producing green hydrogen on site.
